Where is MAZDA From?

Mazda is owned by the Mazda Motor Corporation. But, where is Mazda from originally? The organization was founded in Hiroshima, Japan in 1920. Their first passenger vehicle was manufactured in 1940, but Mazda was known primarily for their three-wheeled carts. As the world demanded more affordable vehicles, Mazda put together designs for compact cars, trucks, and three-wheeled vehicles that also developed the legendary Mazda rotary engine.

Where Are MAZDAs Made?

Where are Mazdas made today? Mazda models are manufactured in a number of locations in Japan and the Americas. At this point, there are three manufacturing facilities in Japan. Two of these are based in Hiroshima, Japan, while the other is in Hofu, Japan. Additionally, there are several manufacturing facilities in North America. These models are created by the Auto Alliance International facility in Flat Rock, Michigan and in a Kansas City assembly plant in Claycomo, Missouri. Here are where common Mazda models are made:

  • Mazda3 Models: Produced in Hofu, Japan, with engines and transmissions from Hiroshima.
  • Mazda5 Minivan, Mazda CX-5, MX-5 Roadster, RX-8: Made in the Hiroshima facility.
  • Mazda6 Models: Manufactured in North American facilities co-owned by Ford.
  • Mazda SUVs and Sedans: Produced in Mazda’s Japanese plants.

Residents of North Canton can take pride in knowing that Mazda vehicles they admire are crafted with precision and care in these global facilities.

The co-ownership with Ford means both brands can benefit from the superb chassis and designs Pre-Owned in production for their models. These American facilities can mass produce quality models with ease and get them to your local dealership so you can drive home in your favorite model made the right way.

Who Makes MAZDA Engines?

Mazda has long been known for its expertise in manufacturing its engines, including traditional piston engines and the unique Wankel “rotary” engines. These engines are renowned for their efficiency and reliability and have helped to establish Mazda as a leading automaker in the industry.

In addition to its headquarters in Japan, Mazda has a subsidiary in Mexico that plays a crucial role in producing Mazda vehicles’ gasoline and diesel engines. This production includes a diverse range of machines, including both four-cylinder and V6 models, catering to various driving preferences in Akron.
